Our Sustainability Mission
Our mission at Fikafur is to help pet parents live the best possible life with their four-legged companions without costing the Earth. We understand that today’s pet parents care immensely about the planet, and we pledge to support them on this sustainability journey. We are proud to produce exceptional quality products for dogs and cats using innovative design and intelligent manufacturing. Environmental compatibility and sustainability are essential basic principles for us — deeply rooted in our decision-making and business processes.
Our goal is to create the best pet products in the most environmentally friendly way possible. We aim to have a positive impact not only on people and animals but also on our environment. Our determination to make a positive contribution to this critical issue has never been stronger. We are focusing on four areas where we can really make a difference.
Use of Environmentally Friendly and Recycled Materials
Sustainable Materials
Wood is a renewable and environmentally-friendly natural resource that, when sourced responsibly, offers the best chance for sustainability. That is why Fikafur only uses wood with FSC® certification for all our wooden products. The FSC® seal guarantees a verified origin from responsible and sustainable forestry, ensuring the long-term preservation of our forests. We also use aluminum with a high recycling rate for certain products, conserving resources, reducing waste, and contributing to environmental protection.
For our Travel Collection products and dog coats, we utilize materials with a high recycled plastic content. In a recycling process, PET waste is reprocessed and turned into Fikafur products. Another example is our Cesto basket, where new felt fibers are obtained from recycled PET bottles and shaped through an environmentally friendly process. The resulting material is durable, resistant, and sustainable.
Products Made from Recycled Ocean Plastic
To address one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time — plastic waste in oceans — Fikafur partnered with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE on projects like the Mare Dog Cushion and Dog Bed. With covers made from 100% recycled plastic waste, these products demonstrate how pet parents can make sustainable choices. Fikafur is part of a global community of individuals, organizations, and companies working to clean oceans and raise awareness of marine plastic. Following the motto, “We don’t look for materials to recycle, we recycle the materials we find,” marine litter from beaches, ocean floors, rivers, and estuaries is collected and transformed into Upcycled Marine Plastic, returning it to our production cycle.
Recycled Fabrics
Many fabrics used in Fikafur products can either be recycled or are made from recycled materials, including the fillings for our dog beds and cushions. These fillings are crafted from environmentally friendly recycled foam obtained from industrial foam waste. All cushions and covers are machine washable and highly durable, ensuring long-lasting use for you and your pet. Additionally, leftover fabric from cushion covers is repurposed to create eco-friendly dog toys, reducing textile waste.

Ethical Production
For Fikafur, the sustainability journey does not end with selecting materials for our products — it extends to choosing the right business partners. Fikafur products are mainly produced in Germany and Europe by carefully selected manufacturers, which shortens transport routes and reduces CO2 emissions. We are committed to ensuring that all Fikafur products are made under fair and humane conditions, comply with European standards, and guarantee workplace health and safety.
We expect our business partners to share our values, treat the environment with care, and act responsibly. Our goal is not only to craft Fikafur products sustainably but also to ensure that the people who produce them are treated with respect and fairness.
Sustainability in Daily Business
Our Commitment to Sustainability
If you want to make a change, it starts with yourself. At Fikafur headquarters, we set high standards for sustainability. Since the beginning of 2021, we have been using only green electricity. All energy consumed in Fikafur’s offices and warehouse comes entirely from certified renewable sources. Additionally, our company vehicles have been electric since 2021, making them 100% locally emission-free.
We avoid single-use beverage bottles, disposable dishes, and dry towels — instead, we rely on bulk food and primarily drink tap water. We are also digitalizing our systems and work processes wherever possible to reduce paper consumption to a minimum.
We are proud of the progress we have made in reducing our environmental impact, but we know there is more to be done. We continuously look for better ways to create durable, premium products with minimal impact on the planet. Fikafur is committed to working with our customers, suppliers, and the wider community to play our part in sustainability.
